About: Fred Hollis |
Frederic Hollis was born in 1989 in Norwich. At the age of three he moved to a small country town called Stalham. Surrounded by countryside, his life was quiet and uneventful. However at the age of 4 this all changed, he discovered music. He was then to be found singing and dancing along to Michael Jackson and various other artists. A little while later he was given a (toy) saxophone (that blew bubbles) and he then decided that what he really wanted to do was play his heart out to people all over the world. This lasted for close to a week when his eyes were caught by the glamorous world of stunts and explosions. After being told by his parents that becoming a stunt man was NOT an option he realised once more that a life of music was what he wanted.
He first realised that he wanted to be a bass player
when he was 8 years old, but didn't start playing properly until
the age of 12. When he was 14 he met the man that would change
everything, his music teacher Adam Lawrence. Adam taught him what
music was really about. At the age of 17 he joined a professional
function band. This is when he met Mr Simon Dring. After playing
with this band for over a year Simon introduced Fred to Oli Brown
and, as all ready stated by Mr Dring, the rest is history.
As a bassist, Fred's influences include: John Patitucci, Victor
Wooten, Rocco Prestia, Stanley Clark, Jaco, Carlos Benevant, Bootsy,
James Jamerson and many more. His other influences include: Stevie
Wonder, Prince, John McLaughlin, Paul Simon, Kiss, Killswitch
Engage, Earth Wind and Fire, Miles Davis and Bach.
